  • Othello which is also known as The Tragedy of Othello , The Moor of Venice is a tragic play by William Shakespeare. Othello is believed to have been written in 1603.It is based on the story Un Calitano Moro "A Moorish Captain" by Cinthio a disciple of Boccaccio. The play is about jealousy, revenge and betrayal. Othello is the protagonist of the play who becomes the victim of jealousy of Iago and take revenge to his wife's betrayal, where as his wife was innocent.

  • Othello starts from a street in Venice. where Rodrigo and iago were arguing with each other. Rodrigo wanted to marry Desdemona and was giving money for that to Iago, but when he came to knwo about Othello marring Desdemona he became furious. Iago also adds that he also hates Othello because he became lieutenant instead of him.

  • Their hatred leed them to Brabanzio and they told him about missing Desdemona, her marriage. which eventually was true.
  • Iago leaves Roderigo and hurries back to Othello before Brabanzio sees him. At Othello’s home, Cassio arrives with an urgent message from the duke: Othello’s help is needed in the matter of the imminent Turkish invasion of Cyprus. within no time, Brabanzio arrives with Roderigo and others, and accuses Othello of stealing his daughter by witchcraft.
  • When he finds out that Othello is on his way to speak with the duke, -Brabanzio decides to go along and accuse Othello before the Duke.
  • Brabanzio told everything and Othello was given a chance to say something. Othello told the turth about their love and commitment. in the mean time Desdemona came and reveled her wish also about marriage and fellowship to Cyprus with Othello. at Cyprus Iago his wife and Cassio reached befor Othello and waited them to come. when Othello's ship reached Iago saw Cassio greetings Desdemona and thought of a plan in his mind.
  • Othello declared a celebration on that evening and Rodrigo md Iago shared their plan to distroy their marriage. At that night iago and Rodrigo maxe Cassio drunk and then Rodrigo started fight with him. than Rodrigo went and rang the alarm which disturbed Othello on his marriage night. after knowing the fight by cassio Othello strips Cassio of his rank of lieutenant. Cassio was upset of this and went ti Iago for some solution of this. Iago told him to tell Desdemona to takl with Othello about him and forgive him.Cassio asks the clown, a peasant who serves Othello, to send Emilia to him. After the clown departs, Iago passes by and tells Cassio that he will get Othello out of the way so that Cassio can speak privately with Desdemona. Othello, Iago, and a gentleman go to examine some of the town’s conditions.
  • Cassio went to Desdemona and tells all the things. Desdemona also replied positively then suddenly Othello came and after seeing Othello Cassio felt uneasy so he went out without talking with him. that gave him a point to think about an affair between them both and Iago is constantly speaking the wrong things about them so he became blind.
  • one day Desdemona forget her handkerchief which was given by Othello as the first gift to Desdemona. That was found by Iago's wife and then to Iago. he told that he will give it to othello but he didn't gave and took it as a thing to helo him in his bad ideas.
  • When othello asked Iago for a proof of his wife's afaur with Cassio he told him about the handkerchief. at that night othello asked Desdemona about the handkerchief but she tells him that she does not have it with her and attempts to change the subject by continuing her suit on Cassio’s behalf.
  • This drives Othello into a further rage, and he storms out. Later, Cassio comes, wondering about the handkerchief he has just found in his chamber. He is greeted by Bianca, a prostitute, whom he asks to take the handkerchief and copy its embroidery for him.Othello becomes so consumed by jealousy. Cassio comes by, and Iago tells him to come back in a few minutes to talk. Once Othello recovers, Iago tells him of the meeting he has planned with Cassio. He instructs Othello to hide nearby and watch as Iago extracts from Cassio the story of his affair with Desdemona. While Othello stands out of earshot, Iago pumps Cassio for information about Bianca, causing Cassio to laugh and confirm Othello’s suspicions.
  • Bianca herself then enters with Desdemona’s handkerchief, reprimanding Cassio for making her copy out the embroidery of a love token given to him by another woman. When Desdemona enters with Lodovico and Lodovico subsequently gives Othello a letter from Venice calling him home and instating Cassio as his replacement.
  • That night, Othello accuses Desdemona of being a characterless women.othello tells Desdemona to wait for him in bed and to send Emilia away. Meanwhile, Iago assures the still-complaining Roderigo that everything is going as planned but to be on the track he has to kill Cassio. at night Roderigo attacked Cassio, but Roderigo misses his mark and Cassio wounds him instead. Iago wounds Cassio and runs away. When Othello hears Cassio’s cry, he assumes that Iago has killed Cassio as he said he would.
  • Othello went to his sleeping wife in their bedchamber, preparing to kill her. Desdemona wakes and attempts to stop  Othello. She asserts her innocence, but Othello denied. Emilia enters with the news that Roderigo is dead. Othello asks if Cassio is dead too and Emilia says he is not. After crying out that she has been murdered, Desdemona changes her story before she dies, claiming that she has committed suicide. Emilia asks Othello what happened, and Othello tells her that he has killed Desdemona for her infidelity, which Iago brought to his attention.
  • At the end Emilia tells the truth about the innocence of Desdemona and the lie of iago. for this iago kills his wife and Othello wanted to kill him but he runs away but afterwards caught by Lodovico and Montano. Othello blames himself of killing his love of the life and kills himself with a sword.
